Rome Cemetery

1500 Jervis Avenue Rome, New York 13440 Phone: 315-336-6210

Rome Cemetery was established in 1851 as a privately operated, non profit, nodenominational memorial association.  It is not owned by the City of Rome.  We are open to all faiths.  The cemetery operates an area of about 100 acres located on the outskirts of Rome in a peaceful setting away from manufacturing and commercial activities.  About 60 percent of the area is developed.  A new park of about five acres is under construction.  Our burial lots are quite spacious and reasonably priced.

The Rome Cemetery is the final resting place for many business and political leaders of Rome, dating back to the early 19th century.  Francis Bellamy, the author of the the American Pledge of Allegiance, is buried here.  Rome participated in much of the history of the Eastern United States, going back before the Revolutionary war, in which Fort Stanwix played an important part.

We offer about six miles of tree lined roadways which wind their way through ornate mausoleums and many quaint and beautiful  individual monuments.  On the premises is a carillon tower which can add a musical touch to a burial service.  The Kingsley Chapel is open for use in warm weather.

Perpetual care is included in our lot price and time payment plans are available.  We urge you to make an early decision about your burial place and will be glad to assist you in your plans.
